I am Andy Russell, a historian in the College of Arts and Letters at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. I began this project last year when I was a postdoc at the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute at Duke University.  The bulk of my scholarly work (you can find some of it on my website) is on American history and the history of technology.  I am oddly fixated on the process of standardization. I don’t work for Google or their competitors or anything like that.
